Painting the Weather

The image on the left was taken at Galveston Island State Park on a windy day in November 2013.  The image on the right is a painting called The Rocks.  It was painted by Vincent Van Gogh in 1888.  It depicts a windy hill in the South of France, and it now hangs in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

How did Van Gogh use paint to represent the wind?
How did the weather on your trip effect the way you did your watercolor?
